In this issue: download the report on our VOTE program; applications are now being accepted for our WILD (Western Institute for Leadership Development) program; and how you can support WILD.

Dear Friend,

Although we’re only halfway through 2011, the Center is tirelessly charting out actions for the 2012 election with the launch of our fifth VOTE cohort. We’ve just released VOTE: People, Policy & Political Power, where you can read about the impact of our work. We are also excited to announce that we are accepting applications for WILD (Western Institute for Leadership Development.) Not applying to be in our next WILD class? We hope you will support grassroots community organizers by giving to our WILD fundraising campaign.

In Solidarity,

NancySig

VOTE Builds Political Power

OSA Close-up

For the past eight years, our VOTE Project (Voter Organizing Training & Empowerment) has built political power in undeserved and historically marginalized communities. We have worked with two dozen organizations across six states, in communities that have traditionally been shut out of power – youth, people of color, immigrants, LGTBQ, low-income, the formerly incarcerated. VOTE’s fifth cohort is continuing to go strong for maximum impact in the 2012 elections.

Download and read more about the effect of our work in this report, VOTE: People, Policy & Political Power.

Gettin’ Wild with WILD

Our staff, board and WILD graduates have been hard at work on garnering support for the next class of WILD participants.

Read one of our graduates stories - Andrea Shipley, Taj Suleyman, Liz Moore, , Jen Lleras and Susie Levy. Then support the upcoming WILD class of 2011-2012, which starts this fall, by donating through one of our WILD graduates' pages.

The work of community organizers is only as strong as the community that supports it. People like you, who support the progressive movement, keep the momentum going to build stronger communities where everyone can thrive. Your support is just as essential as the training that the activists receive at WILD.
